Refunds and Cancellations
Effective October 22, 2026
Ferret's plans are subscriptions for a household, billed by Digital Empire through Stripe. You can change or cancel yours any time in Ferret: Settings → Usage → Manage billing.
Plans and prices
| Plan | Price (USD) | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 10 things, 100 MB of photos and files, 2 people. No AI. |
| Basic | $24 a year | As many things as you like, 5 GB, 5 people. Search by words; no AI. |
| Plus | $5 a month or $48 a year | Everything in Basic, 25 GB, AI (1,000 AI actions a month: photo suggestions, Ask Ferret, documents read, search by meaning). |
| Pro | $10 a month or $96 a year | Everything in Plus, 100 GB, 10 people, 5,000 AI actions a month. |
Taxes are added where the law requires them. Allowances (AI actions and the like) start again on the 1st of each month, whichever way you pay.
When you're charged
- Monthly plans are billed on the 1st of each month. When you start part-way through a month, the first charge covers just the days left in it.
- Yearly plans are billed once a year, from the day you start.
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel.
Free trial
A household can try Plus free for 30 days, once, without a card (with up to 2 GB of files during the trial). If you don't add a card, the household simply goes back to Free at the end. Nothing is charged.
Changing plans
- Upgrades (a bigger plan) take effect straight away; you're charged the difference for the rest of the current period.
- Downgrades (a smaller plan, or yearly to monthly) take effect at your next renewal. You keep what you've paid for until then.
Cancelling
Cancel any time in Manage billing. Your plan stays on until the end of the period you've paid for, and isn't renewed. After that your household is on Free: nothing is deleted and nothing is locked — you can still see, search, edit, export and delete everything; only adding more stops while you're over Free's limits.
If your household holds more than 2 GB of photos and files when a paid plan ends, everything is kept in full for 90 days, and we email the owner when it starts, a month before and a week before. After that, the originals of the oldest photos are replaced by small copies until the household is under 2 GB; documents only after every photo. Subscribing again, removing some files, or Download everything (which has every original) before then avoids it.
Deleting a household (Settings → Household) ends its plan at once. Download everything first if you might want anything in it.
Refunds
- Payments are non-refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for part of a period, unused allowances, or a plan you didn't use. That's why cancelling and downgrading take effect at renewal: you get what you paid for.
- Our mistakes are different: if you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or Ferret was unavailable for a long stretch, write to us within 30 days and we'll put it right with a refund.
- If the law where you live gives you a right to a refund (for example a cooling-off period), that right applies.
If a payment fails
Stripe tries again over the following days, and your plan carries on meanwhile. If it can't be collected, the subscription ends and the household is on Free, as above.
