Terms of Service

Effective October 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Digital Empire, a business in Utah, USA ("we", "us"), for using Ferret, our hosted home inventory at ferret.digitalempire.us (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy and Refunds and Cancellations, which are part of these terms.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or older where the law requires it) and give a working email address.
  • Keep your sign-in safe; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  • A household belongs to its owner, who decides who's in it and their roles, and manages its plan.

Your content

Everything you put into Ferret — things, photos, documents, notes — stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the Service for you: to store, back up, process (including with the AI features of your plan), show it to the people in your household, and share it where you choose to. You can download everything, any time.

Make sure you have the right to upload what you upload.

Acceptable use

Use Ferret for keeping track of things — not to store or share anything illegal, infringe others' rights, send spam, attack or overload the Service, get around its limits or security, or resell it without our agreement. We may suspend an account that does, after telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

Plans and payment

  • Free is free. Paid plans are subscriptions, billed in advance through Stripe and renewing automatically until you cancel; prices, billing dates, changes, cancelling and refunds are set out in Refunds and Cancellations.
  • Each plan has allowances (things, storage, people, AI actions). When one is reached, that part pauses — nothing is deleted.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email, taking effect at your next renewal after that.

AI features

AI suggestions (names, brands, serial numbers, warranty dates, answers to questions) can be wrong. They're never applied without you: check them before relying on them, especially for insurance, warranty or safety matters.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Ferret running and your data backed up, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve the Service; if we remove something important to your plan, we'll tell you first. If we ever stop offering the Service, we'll give at least 60 days' notice so you can download everything.

Ending

You can stop using Ferret and delete your household or your account yourself at any time, in Settings. Deleting a household with a paid plan ends the plan at once, without a refund for the rest of its period. We may end or suspend accounts that break these terms. Free households that nobody uses for a long time are deleted after warning emails, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Disclaimers and limits

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties (such as fitness for a particular purpose), and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data beyond what we could restore from our backups. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA. If something goes wrong, please write to us first — most things can be sorted out quickly. Otherwise, disputes go to the courts of Utah, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your own courts.

Changes to these terms

We'll email account owners about changes that matter at least 30 days before they take effect. Using Ferret after that means you accept them; if you don't, you can cancel.
